GOT A HOLD ON ME

Wow, what a text. It’s an awesome thing when God gets a hold of your life. Old things really do pass away and things really do become new. This afternoon the “men’s book club” met (at least thats what I call it). I have to admit my daughter Emily was there (she read the book). George Washington Carver was definitely someone who had been caught by God. He overcame insurmountable odds and gave all the credit to God.
I have to admit as I prepared for this sermon I was somewhat disturbed by the analogy I was developing with fishing. The idea of being “caught” did not sit well with me. Then I realized that we have all been caught. It’s just a matter of who has caught us. So, I pressed on. So, how many lures can you fit in your mouth? Or are you kind of like those foolish blue gills that can be caught over and over again even though their lips are ripped up and one eye has popped out? Sin so easily ensnares us. Thank God the master fisherman does not give up so easily. In the next week press on through those circumstances and walk by faith. “For without faith it is impossible to please God.” WHB
