THINKING OF YOU Jeremiah 1:4-5

The tiger has been awakened. With great interest I have watched the dramatic implosion of Rev. Jeremiah Wright over the last several weeks. As a minister of the gospel it has been of interest to me from a variety of angles. Without getting sidetracked let me simply say God has used him to help me realize I am obligated to say more. “More” about what, you say? More about the right to life. I have always been loathe to mix the pulpit and politics so I have generally avoided the abortion issue in any direct sense from the pulpit. Of that I am repenting.
Next Saturday the Life Choices Center holds its annual walk/run for life (May 10th). You could be there to support the right of the unborn to have a shot at life. I know there are many who say, they are better off dead. But who went off and made them God? Or who decided that the Supreme Court was God? I did not know that God wore a black robe and hid behind a bench to which he is appointed for life and is not voted on by the people? So much for democracy when courts make laws, immoral at that.
God is the highest court in the land and his judgment on life is that; your life began the moment he thought of you. I am not a scientist or a medical technician. But I am a theologian/philosopher. And life reaches far beyond science (what we can see and determine empirically). What I can say is that God “knew you before he formed you in the womb.” You were on God’s mind and he was relating to you before your conception. For those of us who confess Christ, this is not only a matter of the sanctity of life for the unborn but it is about the sanctity of King Jesus. Who is king? Is it mankind? is it the Supreme Court? Our responsibility is to be a voice in the wilderness of decadence and decay. As sure as God breathed into Adam the “breath of lives” so the Church must be a breath of fresh air in a humanity that kills its own. What’s so humane about that? It would seem a stray cat has more rights than the unborn children in our nation. WHB
