The Lord’s Day
May 30, 2010
Welcome!
Jehu, king of Israel, once asked, “Is your heart as true to mine as mine is to yours? …If it is, give me your hand” (2 Kings 10:15, NRSV). Be open to God. Be open to your pew neighbors.  Blessings!

Prepare Your Hearts
Dear Lord, You deserve praise forever. May all glory be Yours for the gift of life, the loveliness of the earth and Your love through Christ.  Amen.

UPCOMING EVENTS

NOTE -  Pastor Bill will be taking a study sabbatical for the rest of May.  He has two proficiency exams to take at the end of the month. If he passes them it will save money & residency hours in Columbia, SC. In essence he is going to cram (study) for the next couple of weeks in an effort to pass tests he has to take by the end of May. You might pray that he passes. It will also make his wife happy (which would be an added benefit)

GIFTS – If you didn’t get a Mother’s Day Gift last week, there are still some left in the foyer.  Please help yourself to one, compliments of FCC Sunday school.

The Greatest Ornament
“The church knew what the psalmist knew: Music praises God. Music is as well, or better, able to praise him than the building of a church and all its decorations; it is the church’s greatest ornament.”   –Igor Stravinsky

Mother’s Day
May 9, 2010

SUNDAY SCHOOL HI-LITES
My name is Sommer Scott, I teach the 4th and 5th grade boys and girls! We are doing a Bible study on how to lead rather than follow, how to let God reign in our friendships, standing firm, how to feel the importance of obeying God’s word in our everyday lives, and the importance of being consistent in our relationship with Jesus Christ. These lessons are geared for putting the class in training to serve the Lord and to be cautious of the things of this world. Our class verse is Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance against such there is no law”. Our class enjoys serving others. We also go out on visitation from time to time and have a fruit basket ministry for the widow/widowers. We would love to have you come be a part of our class!

Mother’s Day
Today belongs to Mother, make her happy – make her day,
Just by telling her you love her in some special, little way.

There is no one more deserving of the kindness you may show,
For her life is spent in serving all your many needs, you know.

Though at times her role is straining and she’s always underpaid,
Seldom is she heard complaining that’s the way a Mother’s made!

She has little time for pleasure for herself she asks no wealth,
Only one desire she treasures, for your faith, success, and health.

She’ll appreciate your flowers and the gifts you send her way,
But the one that most inspires is your love on Mother’s Day.
–Josephine McAleer
