Doctrine – What We Believe

Our Commitment

In our consititution (Art. 4, Sec. B) you will find the commitment every member of FCC makes. We call this our covenant:

Commitment to a local church, as expressed in the New Testament, is deeply significant. Members are expected to maintain a vital, growing relationship with the Lord; to nourish loving, supportive relationships with their own families as well as the church family; to pray for and share with those that are in need; to maintain a good reputation in their community using every opportunity to share the Gospel; to avoid worldly practices that would bring a reproach to Christ; to support the church regularly by attendance, giving, and service; to respond to all problems in a Biblical manner avoiding all gossip and backbiting; and to respect and support the Pastor and other leaders for the advancement of the work and for the glory of God.

Plan of Salvation

Are you a good person? Most of us would answer “yes!” But let’s hold ourselves up to our Creator’s standard. Have you ever lied? Have you ever wanted something that wasn’t yours? Have you ever been angry with someone? Have you ever loved something more than God? Have you ever disrespected your parents? If you answered yes to even one of these questions, then you are just like the rest of us! We have all violated God’s perfect standard, and no one can enter into heaven on their own goodness. Left to ourselves, we all face a painful reality – after death we will be permanently separated from God in a place called Hell.

There is good news! God has provided a way to deal with our badness or “sins”. Everyone has sinned (Romans 3:23) and the penalty of each sin is death (Romans 6:23). But God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son Jesus, that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have life everlasting (John 3:16). Jesus was God in flesh. When He died on the cross, He took the penalty for our sin on Himself. It was the greatest act of mercy we could ever have asked for.

Jesus offers to forgive you. His forgiveness is available to you, but is not automatic. You must ask Him to forgive you, to cleanse your heart, and adopt you as His child. If you do this, you will never be the same. If you want to know more, feel free to contact us, or just stop in for a Sunday service!
